On 5 February 2018 Rossa McMahon spoke about intellectual property rights and protections at the NUJ Freelance Forum in Buswells Hotel, Dublin.
The Freelance Forum is a bi-annual conference for journalists, broadcasters and photographers organised by the National Union of Journalists and supported by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
Rossa delivered a briefing on the different types of intellectual property rights and in particular some key issues relating to copyright of relevance to journalists and photographers, including the practicalities of protecting copyright works and litigating when they are breached.
In 2017, he acted for a court reporting news agency in proceedings against an online publication for breach of copyright in a number of court reports.
